A cluster-wide property is a key-value pair. To view and create cluster-wide properties, you will select Tasks > Global Settings > Manage Cluster-Wide Properties.

In this example, a cluster wide property called "example.property" is created with a value of "www.example.com".

The cluster wide property can then be used in your services. For example, instead of using "http://www.example.com/myApp", you could use "http://${gateway.example.property}/myApp. The advantage to this is that if www.example.com someday changes to something else, such as www.sample.com, instead of updating multiple services in the API Gateway, you would only need to update the value of the cluster wide property.
