IBM WebSphere - Package Group

A package group is the collection of one or more packages installed in the same directory. For example, if WebSphere Application Server and Java JDK are both installed at /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer, then both WebSphere Application Server and Java JDK are part of the same package group. When a package is installed, the package is automatically added to a package group.

The listInstallationDirectories command with the -long or -verbose option can be used to display the package groups. In this example, the name of the package group is "IBM WebSphere Application Server v9.0".

~]# ./imcl listInstallationDirectories -verbose
[Package group]
Name: IBM WebSphere Application Server v9.0
Installation Directory: /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer
Translation:
Architecture: 64-bit

The listInstalledPackages command with the -long option can be used to list the packages in the package group. In this example, com.ibm.websphere.BASE.v90_9.0.6.20171205_1311 and com.ibm.java.jdk.v8_8.0.5007.20171218_1035 are the packages in the package group.

~]# ./imcl listInstalledPackages -long
/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer com.ibm.websphere.BASE.v90_9.0.6.20171205_1311
/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer com.ibm.java.jdk.v8_8.0.5007.20171218_1035
