The kinit command can be used to get a new Kerberos ticket, renew an existing Kerberos ticket. By default, the kinit command without any options or flags will attempt to get a Kerberos ticket for your user ID in your default realm.
~]# kinit
Password for johndoe@mydomain.example.com:
Or, you can specify the user ID and realm.
~]# kinit janedoe@mydomain.example.com
Password for janedoe@mydomain.example.com:
