The sha256sum command can be used to display the SHA256 checksum of a file. In this example, the SHA256 checksum of the foo.txt file is displayed.
~]# sha256sum foo.txt
0fdff08c4a715dc19197b37cfe19ba3439bc28ba48f536129584900b579afd33 foo.txt
