Active Directory - Resolve "the user name or password is incorrect" when attempting to sign into a Windows domain

If error the user name or password is incorrect appears when attempting to sign into a Windows domain, on the Domain Controller, in Active Directory Users and Computer, in the Users folder, double-click on the user account being used, and ensure the correct username is being used. In the example, both john.doe@software.eng.apl and apl\john.doe are valid logon names.
On the Domain Controller, in Active Directory Users and Computer, in the Users folder, double-click on the user account being used, and ensure the User is a member of the Domain Users group.
On the domain controller, ensure the status of the NETLOGON service is Running.
