Create or update the LOG_HOME variable in WebSphere

  1. Select Servers > Server Types.
  2. Select WebSphere application servers.
  3. Select the JVM.
  4. Expand Java and Process Management and select Process definition.
  5. Select Java Virtual Machine.
  6. Select Custom Properties.
  7. If there is already an entry for LOG_HOME, select the LOG_HOME entry. Otherwise, select New.
    • Name = LOG_HOME
    • Value = ${SERVER_LOG_ROOT}
  8. Select OK.
  9. Select Save.
  10. Restart the JVM for the change to take effect.

 

Ensure the JVM has the LOG_HOME variable at runtime. If the JVMs are clustered, you may need to restart both JVMs for the LOG_HOME variable to display at runtime.

~]# ps -ef | grep <jvm name> | sed "s| |\n|g" | grep -i log
-DLOG_HOME=/usr/local/inet/cell_name/jvm_name
